Golden Paste (Turmeric Paste) is a powerhouse addition to your dog’s diet, whether they're in their prime or starting to feel a bit stiff in their joints. Yields approximately 250 grams
Ingredients
- 75g turmeric (ideally organic)
- 70g cold-pressed coconut oil (ideally organic)
- 250ml water or Mushroom Broth
- ½ to 1 ½ tsp of black pepper
- ½ to 1 ½ tsp ceylon or premium cinnamon
- Whisk turmeric and water together in a small pot.
- Simmer on a medium to low heat for 7-10 minutes, whisking until a paste forms (add more water as required.)
- Turn off heat and add coconut oil, ground pepper and cinnamon.
- Mix until well combined.
- Let cool.
- Store in a glass jar for up to 3 weeks or portion into ice cube molds and freeze.
Start with ¼ tsp per 5 kg of body weight and gradually increase. For a large dog the maximum amount would be 1 tbsp twice daily.
Notes:
Be aware that turmeric stains hands and clothes.
Turmeric leaves the body quickly; feed smaller amounts throughout the day.
