The inclusion of fresh food in dogs' diet is becoming more mainstream, which is fantastic news. However, if you are new to feeding fresh foods or you want to learn more the information available can be overwhelming.
When you head down the rabbit hole of fresh feeding you may come out with more questions than you started, like:
Who do I listen to and/or read?
Who is right?
Who is wrong?
What’s the best fresh foods I can feed my dogs?
How do I access full studies on fresh feeding?
The questions are endless, with even more answers to those questions. To help, we have compiled a list of vets, fresh feeding influencers, thought leaders, websites, blogs and more. Many of these resources we use regularly in our own research personally and for articles that are featured here on our Thrive Dog Kitchen Blog.
As you look through the directory you might notice that, with the exception of Thrive Dog Kitchen we have not found another resource from New Zealand (it doesn’t mean they aren’t out there). Australia gets a couple of mentions, but most are either from the US, Canada or the UK. We would love to see more resources from Aotearoa.
A common theme with each recommendation is that none push fresh feeding as an all or nothing.
Would they like every dog to eat a fresh whole food diet? Yes.
Do they realise that’s not possible? Yes.
Do they encourage you to do what works best for you and your dog? Yes.
Who are we missing from this directory? Message us, so we can check them out.
